QUEENSLAND GREYHOUND RACING CLUB CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT

The Board of Queensland Greyhound Racing Club (QGRC) has today announced the appointment of Peter Gleeson as Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

 

Mr Gleeson joins the Club following an extensive and successful career in the media including roles as Editor of major newspapers, presenter on SKY News and most recently at radio station 4BC.

 

Mr Gleeson was selected from a field of local and interstate candidates following an extensive recruitment process.

 

QGRC Chairman, Les Bein said: “The Board is delighted to have secured Peter Gleeson as the CEO of Queensland Greyhound Racing Club. During the selection process, Peter showed the Board his level of passion and drive to continue to lead the Club into the next phase of our growth and development.”

 

“We had an extremely talented and well-credentialled pool of candidates from which to select and we were fortunate to have appointed a highly respected person across a range of industries and one who also possesses a long and proud connection to the greyhound racing industry.

 

Mr Gleeson said “The Q will be the pre-eminent greyhound facility in Australia and I’m honoured to be appointed chief executive officer. Under the leadership of the board and senior executive team, I’m really looking forward to the transformation across to The Q.”

“I’ve had a long association with greyhounds. I started going to the Dapto greyhounds when I was five which has developed into a lifelong passion for the industry and its participants. The future looks fantastic. I can’t wait to be a part of our ongoing success and prosperity as an industry in Queensland.”

 

Mr Gleeson will commence with the QGRC on Tuesday 8 October 2024.
